Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the UK arrived in Georgia

James Cleverly, the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, arrived in Georgia on an official visit.

The Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Teimuraz Janjalia and the British Ambassador to Georgia Mark Clayton met Cleverly at the Tbilisi International Airport.

As British Ambassador said, Cleverly’s visit is “a great honour and privilege”, as the Foreign Minister has not been on an official visit to Georgia since 2016.

Clayton also thanked the Georgian side for their contribution to this visit with a “short but very busy programme”.

The British Foreign Minister will hold meetings with his Georgian counterpart Ilia Darchiashvili and the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

He will also visit the occupation line to get acquainted with the current situation in the area.
