Violence rose to a new level, the rally of the political minority took the form of violence against citizens – Papuashvili

Calling a violent protest “peaceful” is encouraging radicalism. Such a statement made today the Speaker of the Parliament.

“When a protest rally is violent and it is assessed as if it is peaceful, it promotes and encourages radicalism and violence. Yesterday we saw that violence rose to a new level, the rally of the political minority took the form of violence against citizens.

Yesterday there were statements of support and last night we saw that the violent actions have already moved to the next stage. Before that, violence was expressed against the policemen and the parliament building, and the police tried their best to be restrained, but yesterday we saw that the violence rose to a new level, the action of the political minority took the form of violence against the citizens.

“One of the main arteries of the city was blocked yesterday [by protestors]. Citizens were not only inconvenienced, but we saw that people needed to go to medical facilities, women, children, old people needed to pass, but no one was allowed [to do it]. This is direct violence against the citizens of Georgia”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
