The protest continues on Rustaveli Avenue. Citizens started gathering in front of the Parliament from 19:00.
They already blocked the road. There are no water cannons and special forces on site. The demonstrators did not use pyrotechnics.
The participants of the rally are protesting the decision of Georgian Dream on November 28, according to which Georgia will not put the issue of opening negotiations with the European Union on the agenda until the end of 2028.
hing to deny and ignore the will of the citizens. They do this in a completely undemocratic style. They question the will of the Georgian people, which they expressed through democratic elections. This is a serious and, let"s say, boring game being played by the liberal mainstream, which will be rejected.
Hungary is fully committed to Georgia’s European integration aspirations and provides any kind of support, while Brussels and the liberal mainstream are doing everything to alienate Georgia, which is a very harmful and dangerous approach from Brussels. The European Parliament [EP] approved a resolution that talks about humiliating the nation, and we reject it. In this way, the EP commits harmful actions towards a country that wants to start negotiations on joining the EU. There is a pro-war and liberal majority in the EP that constantly attacks those who speak openly about the need for peace. We call on Brussels and the international liberal elite to respect the decision of the Georgian people and not to question the sovereign right of the Georgian people to decide the future of their country. We recently received a proposal from Brussels that we should impose European sanctions against the Minister of Internal Affairs and high-ranking police officers of Georgia, which is outrageous and baseless. Hungary is completely against the inclusion of Georgian officials in the sanctions list. If there are similar proposals, then we will veto them, you can be sure of that”, - said Peter Szijjártó.
