Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested 3 people for participating in group violence and attacking a policeman

The employees of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Tbilisi Police Department, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, arrested 3 people for participating in group violence and attacking a police officer.

N.J. (DoB 2004) is arrested for participating in group violence. A.K. (DoB 1999) is arrested for assaulting a policeman and previously convicted S.S. (DoB 1993) is arrested for the similar crime.

The committed crime envisions up to 9 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that the accused person - N.J. during the protest actions held on Rustaveli Avenue, together with the participants of the rally, systematically and continuously resorted to violence against the law enforcement officers. He also fired pyrotechnics in the direction of the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in order to damage their health.

On the first of December of the current year, during the rally on Rustaveli Avenue A.K. threw Molotov cocktail employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Accused S.S. On December 4 of the current year, during a meeting held in Freedom Square, attacked an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a baton, causing trauma in head area.

The investigation of the incident is being conducted under the Articles 225, part I, 239 (1) and 353 (1) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

At the Ministry of Internal Affairs, within the framework of the current protest, all criminal acts committed by violent groups are being investigated under Articles 187 and 353 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, within which 9 persons have been arrested at the moment.

Herewith, 8 persons are arrested under Articles 225 and 239 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, implying and organization, leading or participating in group violence and publicly calling for violent actions, while, 1 person is arrested detained for preparing an explosion.
