Following the recent European Parliament [EP] elections, new forces have emerged that approach issues with objectivity and base their statements on facts rather than political preferences, said Archil Gorduladze, Georgian Dream member.

“The resolutions concerning Georgia reflect an unfair attitude toward our country. We recall how MEPs demanded the release of Mikheil Saakashvili. We also remember their calls to impose sanctions on Russia, which would inevitably lead to economic collapse, resulting in an approximate 16% regression in our economic development.

When such unfair resolutions are passed, serious discussions become impossible. However, following the recent elections, new voices have emerged in the EP, approaching issues with pragmatism and grounded in facts rather than political affiliations. Officials from numerous countries have noted that statements made by individual MEPs represent personal opinions and don’t lead to substantial results. What matters are the decisions made by the commissions.

Threats or warnings that the Georgian people will face repercussions for not electing a preferred government are categorically unacceptable. Politicians and citizens of any self-respecting nation should express their views and stand firm against threats regarding the potential risk to free movement within the EU. Such double standards are intolerable in relations between two equals.

It’s encouraging that there are EP members who evaluate facts realistically and avoid negative campaigning as desired by the opposition in our country, particularly the collective known as the United National Movement. Assessments must be objective and based on observations of the electoral process. We remember the numerous foreign observers during the October 26 elections, who reported no violations or factors that could have influenced the election’s outcome”, - said Archil Gorduladze.
