Prosecutor’s Office charges 1 for election equipment damage

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia filed charges against a person for damaging election equipment at the polling station in the village of Didvela, Baghdati municipality.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the accused intentionally damaged 2 voter verification machines belonging to the Central Election Commission, valued at GEL 5,280, and fled the scene.

Police officers arrested the defendant on November 7. He is being charged under the first part of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia [Damaging or destroying another person’s property which has resulted in substantial damage], which carries a penalty of 1 to 5 years’ imprisonment.
