Members of election commissions at all levels, including members of the Precinct Election Commissions established abroad, are being under pressure - CEC

Members of election commissions at all levels, including members of the Precinct Election Commissions established abroad, are being under pressure. Such a statement released today the Central Election Commission.

“In addition to discrediting the October 26 Elections, pressure against the staff members of the Election Administration (EA) of Georgia has intensified. Interested parties are repeating the tactic used in the 2020 Parliamentary Elections for exercising pressure against the EA of Georgia.

Members of election commissions at all levels, including members of the Precinct Election Commissions established abroad, are being under pressure. Some of the members are receiving the calls of intimidation and messages of threat. Intimidation, pressure, bulling and hate speech have an intensive character within the social networks as well.

Pressure is exercised both on individual persons and the official websites of the institution in social networks.

Now you are looking at the screenshots on the screen, confirming my words and being a short part of the intimidating messages and comments.

We have stated several times, that we will always protect legal interests of our colleagues. This time, we would like to once again confirm that the EA of Georgia remains faithful for its words and notifies everybody that each call or message, that contradicts the applicable legislation, will be transferred to the relevant organs for providing further response”.
