Hungary has been a dedicated supporter of Georgia’s path to EU integration and played a key role in Georgia obtaining the candidate status. Such a statement the Prime Minister of Georgia made at the joint briefing with the Hungarian counterpart, Viktor Orbán.
“I extend my gratitude to the Hungarian Prime Minister for visiting Georgia. He is here with a Government delegation, and his visit, as well as the overall cooperation between our countries, is of utmost importance to us.
The partnership and friendship between the two countries are rooted in traditional ties between our peoples, and we place high value on further strengthening and deepening these relations.
Our top foreign policy priority is the integration into the European Union, and in this context, Hungary’s role is essential. Hungary has been a dedicated supporter of Georgia’s path to EU integration and played a key role in Georgia obtaining the [EU membership] candidate status. I would like to personally thank Viktor Orbán, as well as all our Hungarian friends and the Hungarian Government for this support. We also look forward to their continued backing in the future”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
