We have endured a very difficult and arduous period, 12 years ago Bidzina Ivanishvili united Georgia, mobilized our nation, and firmly stood against lies and malevolence. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi.

“Today is October 1, and I would like to congratulate each and every member of the Georgian Dream [GD], along with the party’s supporters, as well as all those for whom October 1, 2012, symbolizes our country’s victory and freedom. Indeed, we have endured a very difficult and arduous period. Twelve years ago, Bidzina Ivanishvili united Georgia, mobilized our nation, and firmly stood against lies and malevolence. Together with the citizens of our country, he rejected the so-called beacon of democracy - a status that external actors attempted to impose on our population. However, what lay behind this façade, the extent of hatred and the bloody regime that existed, is well known to society. After twelve years, the GD boasts unprecedented public support. I assert that the GD has not experienced such backing from the populace since 2012, as society continues to recognize the dangers, challenges, and difficulties we face. The only force capable of truly safeguarding the interests of our country, maintaining peace, and fostering economic development is the GD”, - said Kakha Kaladze.

He also commented on today’s letter of Bidzina Ivanishvili.

“I concur with Bidzina Ivanishvili that there is no sector or field in which we have not made improvements and taken steps forward. According to all international assessments, those who accurately perceive and evaluate the current reality in our country can clearly recognize the challenges we face, especially concerning freedom of speech and expression. These fundamental rights have been egregiously violated by representatives of the so-called “beacon of democracy”. They systematically undermined businesses, robbing and destroying them, while the streets witnessed acts of violence against our young people, imposition of terror and pressure on individuals with differing opinions.

In every domain, including our path toward European integration, if you compare the period before 2012 with the progress made after it, you will find that each success our country has achieved is linked to the government of the GD. We will undoubtedly continue this pragmatic policy with the country’s interests at the forefront. Our priority remains the preservation of peace; we do not desire war, given its severe consequences. Even now, we are yet to heal from the wounds inflicted in 2008 - countless displaced, lost territories still under occupation, fallen heroic soldiers, and suffering civilians - these realities weigh heavily on us”, - said the Mayor.
