Vladimir Putin and Alexei Navalny are nominated for the Nobel Prize

President Vladimir Putin has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, according to Russian media reports.

The request was made two weeks ago by a group of Russian writers led by Sergey Komkov, the reason for the nomination has not been given.


“This is actually my fourth nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. It was sent on September 9 this year, and on September 10 this application was received by the Nobel Peace Committee in Oslo, at the headquarters of the Nobel Committee”, - said Komkov.


Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny is also nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, said Sergei Erofeev, a professor at Rutgers University in New Jersey. According to him, a group of scientists from several universities dealing with Russia proposed Navalny’s candidacy.

At the same time, Erofeev did not give specific names but said that they are world-renowned scientists.
The Nobel Prize is awarded in Sweden in five directions. The nomination process begins in September and ends on January 31 of the following year. According to the rules of the award, only the names of the laureates are announced. Names of those who were nominated but did not receive the prize become available only 50 years after the presentation ceremony.
