From September 1, along with the restraining order, abusers will have to wear electronic bracelets. The author of the relevant legislative changes is the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the changes, it will be possible to establish a GPS electronic monitoring system to track high-risk DV offenders. The technology provides an early warning system that enables law enforcement to intervene before a crime is committed.

This system has made it more effective in many countries to protect women and victims of domestic violence and save many lives. In Georgia, the system was introduced in a joint partnership between UN Women and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, with the support of the EU and the Government of Sweden.

Combating domestic violence/violence against women and domestic crime is one of the main priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry is gradually taking a number of measures in this direction”, - reads the statement of the Interior Ministry.
