Ombudsman has questions regarding the initiative which envisages tightening the legislation in the area of voter intimidation and bribery

The Ombudsman has questions regarding the initiative which envisages tightening the legislation in the area of voter intimidation and bribery.

According to Nino Lomjaria, for years, when the instances of alleged voter bribery were administratively punishable, there was no response.

“When there is administrative responsibility, it is more possible for there to be a legal response to the fact. As for criminal liability, in these cases an investigation should be launched. Unfortunately, we see that, as a rule, the investigation into such facts does not start”, - said the Public Defender.
