Global COVID-19 infections exceed 22 million

There are over 22 million confirmed COVID-19 cases globally, with over 784,000 fatalities and 15,053,617 million recoveries, according to the latest tally from the Johns Hopkins University.

The U.S. has seen 5,655,974 million infections and 175,074 deaths – both numbers are the highest in the world.

New Zealand postponed its national election from September 19 to October 17 due to a resurgence of coronavirus cases.

Several countries around the globe, including France, South Korea, the Philippines and New Zealand are seeing a spike in cases.

The World Health Organization chief on Tuesday urged countries to prevent “vaccine nationalism”. The organization earlier also expressed concern that the novel coronavirus spread was being driven by people in their 20s, 30s and 40s, many of whom were unaware of infection.
