99% of patients enrolled in the hepatitis C program in Georgia have recovered

An event dedicated to World Hepatitis Day was held at the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health.


According to the Head of the NCDC Amiran Gankrelidze, up to 2.3 million people have been screened for hepatitis C in Georgia.


70 000 patients have started treatment for Hepatitis C, more than 65,000 of them have already completed their treatment, with the cure rate reaching 99%.


World Hepatitis Day is one of the seven global public healthcare days established by the World Health Organization, marking its tenth anniversary in 2020.
