Ten more Georgian soldiers test positive for coronavirus in Afghanistan

10 more servicemen of the Georgian Defense Forces rotating in the NATO Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan soldiers serving in Afghanistan have tested positive for coronavirus.


According to the Ministry of Defense, they were brought to the homeland by a special flight of the German air forces today. The transfer of the infected soldiers was carried out in two stages, on July 10 and today.


“Out of 28 military servicemen transferred on July 10, 8 have already recovered and discharged. The health condition of other servicemen is satisfactory. The source of the infection is linked to the same cluster - local Afghan personnel.


The part of the Georgian contingent remaining in Afghanistan, which will return to their homeland in a few weeks, will undergo 14-day quarantine in accordance with the established rules.


The Ministry is following all the preventive measures and recommendations to maintain the positive dynamics in the defense forces and in the country in general”, - reads the statement.
