The number of coronavirus cases continue to rise in the United States

The number of daily global cases also broke a record, with the United States as the biggest source of new infections. The U.S. death toll is also on the rise.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread across the nation, one state is reimplementing certain lockdown measures.

California governor Gavin Newsom has given an order to close businesses, including restaurants and movie theaters.

“We are moving back into a “modification mode” of our original stay-at-home order. This is a new statewide action, effective today”, - Newsom said.

The order covers 30 counties, including Los Angeles and San Diego. Other businesses impacted include wineries, fitness centers, churches and nail salons. In addition, schools will not begin in-person instruction, according to L.A. County’s superintendent. Newsom did not give any indication of an end date for this new stay at home order.
