Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri held a meeting with the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia - Toivo Klaar.

During the meeting, existing security challenges on the occupied territories and the importance of active support of western partners was discussed.

In the course of the meeting, Minister of Internal Affairs emphasized security and humanitarian situation in the occupied territories during the COVID-19 pandemic. Vakhtang Gomelauri also underlined the problem of illegal restriction of free movement of the local population on the occupation line by the occupying forces and the challenges associated with the illegal detention of citizens of Georgia based on so-called charges of border crossing.
