Another suspect in Khangoshvili murder may also have links to Russia’s FSB - German media

Der Spiegel and The Insider wrote that the Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany and the Federal Prosecutor’s Office have revealed a second possible suspect in the case of the assassination of Georgian citizen of Chechen origin Zelimkhan Khangoshvili.


The second alleged suspect, Roman Davydov, is a resident of Saint Petersburg.


According to Der Spiegel, Davydov arrived in Poland through Belarus, and then made his way to Germany just 14 days before the murder of Khangoshvili. News outlet writes that the Federal Criminal Police Office and the Federal Prosecutor’s Office suspect that he was also involved in the preparation of the murder. 

Moreover, it is reported that a few months before the murder, both men were in the town of Orekhovo-Zuevo, near Moscow, where, according special agents of the Federal Security Service of the Russian are trained.

Furthermore, based on passport number proximity search and intelligence data from Czechia cited in the German indictment, journalists were able to connect this person to a group of other Russian FSB-linked spies who in turn were connected to the murder of another Chechen national in Istanbul in 2015.
