Parliament approves constitutional amendments in second hearing

The Parliament of Georgia voted in favor of the constitutional amendments in the second hearing. The number of deputies who supported the project is 115, while three were against it.


The MPs from United National Movement and European Georgia did not take part in the voting.

The Parliament approved the constitutional amendments in the first reading on June 21, during which, 136 lawmakers supported the bill, including the Parliamentary Majority, European Georgia, Independent Lawmakers, Alliance of Patriots and a few independent lawmakers. Five MPs voted against the constitutional amendments. They were: Alexandre Erkhvania, Kakha Okriashvili, Davit Chichinadze, Bidzina Gegidze and Emzar Kvitsiani. MP Nato Chkheidze did not take part in the vote.
