Georgian Defence Forces troops will replace their ageing transportation with modern trucks

The Georgian Defence Forces troops will replace their ageing transportation with trucks produced by leading European and American brands, with the Ministry of Defence of Georgia signing the deal to provide servicemembers with up-to-date hardware.

“Thanks to this agreement, we’re discarding the Soviet-era produced special technics. This wasn’t the quality that our Army deserved. Thus, with the unprecedented renewal, we’re becoming interoperable with NATO standards in this domain too. According to our project, we’re purchasing up to 500 units of special technics from the leading European manufacturers, such as German “MAN”, Italian “Iveco” and America “Ford”. The names and the credibility of the listed companies confirm that our main principle - all the best goes to Army - is being realized. The Ministry will pay the bill in several installments which will be extended to a couple of years - it will be a preferential duty for us. The purchase is an important decision in terms of the effectiveness of expenses. The purchases from the same companies will save money and facilitate the service in the future”, - concluded the Minister of Defence Irakli Gharibashvili.
