From today, the National Guard is led by Colonel Roman Jokhadze. His first working day started with the handing over of the flag. Prior to the handover ceremony, they paid tribute to the memory of the fighters who died in the battles for territorial integrity and international missions with a minute of silence.


Prior to the appointment as a Head of National Guard, Colonel Roman Jokhadze worked as a Defense Attaché of Georgia in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republics. In various periods he occupied important positions in Defense Forces, including Deputy Chief of General Staff, Chief of J2 Intelligence Department, Head of Military Intelligence Department, military expert at MOD Analytical Department. He served at National Guard as wells – first as a Commander of Battalion, then as a Commander of Training Center. Colonel Roman Jokhadze participated in international missions in Iraqi Freedom Operation and ISAF Operation, Afghanistan.


Following the civil education at Tbilisi State University, Roman Jokhadze continued his education in military direction. He graduated Joint Military Academy in Georgia, National Defence University in Romania, NATO Defence College in Italy and US Army War College.
