Like all respiratory viruses, coronavirus can be activated in the fall. Such statement made the Head of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health at today’s briefing.

“The recent increase in coronavirus cases was predictable as the economy reopened and mobility is growing. There is no ground for panic, the epidemiological situation in the country is under control, however, citizens should be careful. There is a tendency to increase the number of mild coronavirus cases.

As for the second wave, the world predicts that, like all respiratory viruses, it could activate once again in the fall. The virus can activate with cold weather, depending on the zone. As you know, respiratory viruses are mainly active from the second half of October, and coronavirus may activate together with the flu. However, a certain group of scientists think that the virus gradually reduces its aggressiveness”, - explained Amiran Gamkrelidze.
