Orthodox Church celebrates the Ascension of the Savior

Orthodox Church celebrates the Ascension of the Savior - the end of the earthly road of Jesus Christ. The day is celebrated 40 days after the Resurrection, always on Thursday.

According to folklore traditions, the night before Spassovden has special healing qualities. On order to be cured through the miracle, ill people spend the night in the open, on woodland clearings where the herb known as Rosen is growing.


A solemn service is held in all functioning temples on the occasion of the holiday. The Divine Liturgy will be held by the Patriarch together with the priests at the Holy Trinity Cathedral.
