The President of Georgia has made a video call with President of Austria. Salome Zourabichvili and Alexander Van der Bellen expressed hope that due to the crisis caused by the coronavirus, the postponed visit of the President of Georgia to Austria will be held after the end of the pandemic.

The leaders spoke about the difficulties caused by the spread of COVID-19 and the plans to reopen the economy. It was noted that the pandemic has created challenges in both countries’ tourism sector, which has a negative impact on their economies.

The President of Austria was interested in the directions of tourism in Georgia and the development potential of the sector. The President of Georgia provided her Austrian counterpart with detailed information on the directions of tourism in Georgia and its opportunities.

They agreed that two countries will actively cooperate in creating a safe tourism strategy, which will contribute to the development and more active development of the tourism sector in the post-crisis period.

The Presidents also spoke about Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration process and occupation. According Salome Zourabichvili, in the light of the international solidarity, the process of “borderization” at the occupation line in Georgia continues, and in the humanitarian situation in the occupied regions of the country remains grave.
