Records of Georgian voters published by hackers do not match official data - CEC

The Central Election Commission of Georgia (CEC) responds on the information published by the online website ZDNet, saying that voter information for more than 4.9 million Georgians, including deceased citizens, has been published on a hacking forum.

According to CEC, the released figures do not match official data.

The Central Election Commission noted that official database contains 3 500 000 voters, however, their phone numbers are not included. CEC also denies information about the deceased citizens in the data.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia also commented on this issue and said that the agency has been studying the case. Additional comments will be known later.

Parliamentary polls in Georgia are slated for October, 2020. According to the CEC, there were 3,528,658 eligible voters during the last presidential election in 2018.
