The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia warns Georgian citizens abroad not to trust promises made by private individuals or political groups.
The Agency calls on Georgian citizens abroad to plan the travel itinerary only with the assistance of Georgian diplomatic missions.
“Certain individuals and groups, including political groups, have been promising our citizens to help in returning to Georgia. They request personal information via social networks. We ask you to bear in mind that high level of the spread of COVID-19 worldwide created significant problems for international travel. Most countries have closed borders and international travel is halted or severely restricted.
Consequently, the promises made by private individuals are false and may further aggravate the situation. Given the current situation, we encourage you to show caution and plan your itinerary only with the assistance of Georgian diplomatic missions to avoid further undesirable complications. According to the instruction of the Inter-Agency Coordination Council, Georgian missions oversees are working 24 hours a day to assist Georgian citizens residing abroad”, - reads the statement.
