Russia has stepped up its measures to tackle the pandemic and prevent its spread within the country. Country confirmed 182 new coronavirus infections on Thursday, bringing the official number of cases up to 840 and marking the largest one-day increase in cases so far.

Two people who tested positive for COVID-19 in Moscow died on Wednesday, Russia’s coronavirus response center said.

The patients were 73 and 88 years old and also had pneumonia.
