Marneuli and Bolnisi (Kvemo Kartli) have been put under quarantine because of coronavirus pandemic.
The Prime Minister of Georgia made such announcement after the session of the Inter-agency Coordination Council in a late night press conference.
“The Georgian government decided to put Marneuli and Bolnisi under strict quarantine regime.
This decision is related to the beginning of the stage of internal transmission of the virus in the country.
On March 21, a state of emergency was declared in the country. Today, we have a difficult situation, since the source for the latest COVID-19 infection case confirmed in Marneuli, could not be identified, this means country moves to the stage of internal transmission of the virus.
The fact that our epidemiologists have identified 90 contacts does not mean anything. The situation is hard and this is the main challenge and problem, for which we are best prepared”, - concluded Giorgi Gakharia.
