Nikoloz Gamkrelidze, the son of Amiran Gamkrelidze (the Director of Decease Control Center of Georgia), tested positive for a new coronavirus. Nikoloz Gamkrelidze wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“Dear friends, after having contact with coronavirus-positive persons, I and all the persons, who have had the contact with the infected employee, were in self-isolation. Yesterday, I showed the symptoms of the virus and was tested, which appeared positive for the coronavirus.

Now, I am being treated in Tbilisi Infectious Hospital. Gladly, I had contacts with a minimal number of people (on Thursday 05/03 was one relatively long contact; all contacted people are identified and placed in isolation. I feel good). Despite that the information on the patients is confidential, I decided to make this information public for several reasons: 1 - I think sickness is no shame. 2 - I do not want this issue to be subject to different interpretations 3 - And most importantly, do not become a source of additional panic.

I am sure that if we show more solidarity and accept our civic responsibility, we will soon tackle this challenge in our country”, - wrote Gamkrelidze.
