We should do our best to ensure that coronavirus has a minimal impact on Georgia"s economic growth. Such a statement the Prime Minister of Georgia made during the Government’s session.
“The Interagency Council on coronavirus continues to actively work. Today we are discussing how to mitigate the impact of coronavirus on the economy. As you know, international financial institutions are seriously evaluating the impact of this virus on economic growth, and there are already serious projections for slowing global economic growth.
Of course, there has been some slight impact on the Georgian economy, primarily on sectors directly related to tourism. We are well aware that this problem should be solved by the Government. We will use all the tools, both monetary and fiscal. Although the Georgian economy has acquired serious macroeconomic resilience against global challenges in recent years, we understand that we must act very carefully in this regard and do our utmost to minimize the impact of this virus on our economic growth.
The Ministry of Economy will meet with representatives of the tourism sector in the coming days. We, together with the Ministry of Finance and the National Bank, will do our best to minimize this impact”, - concluded Giorgi Gakharia.
