The West will never want that political parties with zero support to come to power in Georgia. Such a statement made the Speaker of the Parliament Archil Talakvadze. According to him, the statements of congressmen confirm that the US supports Georgia.

“I listened to Adam Kinzinger’s interview in English. He said that the 2024 elections need to be held under a proportional system. You know that we have made this decision and this has already been written in the Constitution. We now have to reach an agreement for the 2020 elections.

The congressman called on all parties to realize their responsibility and take steps towards an agreement. We took steps and made fair offers on all major issues. We and our friends in Congress have the same position.

I understand that the statements of congressmen are differently interpreted by various people, including by the destructive part of the opposition. I would like to tell this part of the opposition that the West will never want that political parties, which have zero support and the leaders of which have the hardest legal and political biography, to come to power in Georgia. This is simply unthinkable and no one should try to translate our friends’ statements as if they support personally them. The statements only confirm that they support Georgia”, - concluded Talakvadze.
